ICC Tempe collects and distributes zakat to the local Muslim community in the Phoenix Metro area. We are proud to be the leader in zakat collection and distribution in the Phoenix Metro Area, but need your help to help your brother and sisters in need. Your zakat helps cover urgent and critical financial needs facing many underprivileged brothers, sisters and their families. In 2013, ICC distributed over $35,000 to Muslim families across the valley. We hope to be able to provide more zakat and help underprivileged brothers, sisters and their families get back on their feet.

Our Zakat Policy

Our Zakat only covers the following :

Past Due Rent

Past Due Utility Bills

Urgent Medical Prescriptions

Basic Needs (Food & Clothing)

Local Travel Expenses

We only allow for recipients to apply and receive zakat every 6 months.

Additional Documentation is required to attach to your application:

Government issued identification (Driver’s License or Passport)

Past Due Rent or Utility Bill

Eviction Letter

Medical Prescription

Proof of Employment

Latest Bank Statement

W~2 Form

Important Notes :

Zakat assistance is need-based one-time assistance, subject to available funds.
We issue payments via checks only.
The maximum amount given to an individual is $200. A total of $3000 is the max amount of zakat per family/individual in a lifetime.
Any amounts exceeding $200 will be paid directly to the service providers (e.g., SRP, APS, Billing for the Apt. complex or Landlord, etc.)
Rental & Utility assistance is currently reserved for Arizona residents within the Phoenix Metro Area. (Exceptions may apply based on circumstances and available funds)
Address on Driver License must match the address currently seeking assistance for. (Arizona requires you to report a Change of Address within 10 Days)
All applications must be submitted electronically or in person at the ICC office during business hours.
This application is not for emergency or dire cases. Allow at least 7 business days for the Zakat Committee to review and process your application. The ICC office will not provide any updates on your application status before this time.
All applicants must first contact their local Department of Social Services for assistance (including emergency cases) and attach a copy of the benefits and/or decision letter provided.
The applicant must be a Muslim in good community standing.
The decision made by the Zakat Committee will be final. If you provide an email address, you may receive notification of the application status once a decision has been made.
The applicant is responsible for reporting all Zakat assistance income to the IRS and other government agencies for any tax and legal reporting purposes.
You authorize the Islamic Community Center of Tempe to share, report, and verify the information provided on this form for the purposes of this request with any local, state, and federal organizations or companies, including other Islamic organizations and Mosques, as needed, and permitted by law.
